Back to some Serious Training!!!
Its early morning Tuesday, and I just got a day off yesterday from running. We are now starting to work on getting ready for The Thunder Road Marathon in November of 2011. With four half marathons ahead of us, the first one is going to be on March 12th. The next about a month later being April 30th, which is "The Race for the Land" half marathon. I truely haven't decided what my next 5K should be, I've looked at a possible few in January or February. My goal with any 5K now going forward will be to knock off almost four minutes off my usual time. Which tends to be around 26 to 28 minutes. I have to work on getting stronger and faster. As easy as it might sound, I have a feeling it probably will not be. I have also decided to discontinue my Blast from the Past series as no one truely reads my blog as it is. When ever I have more readers I might continue it then.

Its been a while
Well, Its been a while sense ive posted anything on my blog. And it is because I focused alot on getting pass my half marathon and achieveing my goals. In the time that ive been away, I managed to get my hands on the Nike Connect. It is probably the best investment ive run across sense I started to run. Anyway, I finished my first half marathon under two hours. So even with me just enjoying the sights and sounds and being less interested in the time and pace I was running. I was so happy to finish under that time. Now comes 2011, and I have several goals that I want to achieve.
1 - Compete in 4 different Half Marathons. Two Trail and Two Road
Within theses Marthons I want to be under two hours in each one.
2 - Compete my first Full Marathon.
3 - Do as many 5K races as possible.
4 - Do as many 10K races as possible.
5 - Do as many 15K races as possible.
The way I attend to achieve my goals with all the above is to train harder and work myself to the point that without a doubt I want to beable to finish a Full Marathon. After 2011 it is all going to be about speed and increasing the time it takes me to finish each one. As my total goal overall on a long standing is to beable to do a mile in 5 minutes flat by 2013 and qualify for Boston and NYC. No telling if I would actually run in either. Most likely if it is my Destiny. Anyway this is Richard getting back to my morning workouts. Thanks for reading up on me.

Well it wasnt bad, still had some soreness in my right inner thigh. And im not feeling like i need to throw up any longer at the moment. Hopefully its passed completely. So I did about 3 miles yesterday. Didnt want to put too much stress on my inner thigh and thats what im doing Saturday. Just 3 miles and hope that i can do something with it on Sunday when i do trail running with Amy. That should be about 8 miles in the woods.

Not Exactly to Plan
Today is Thursday and yesterday was the hardest day i had to run for this past week. I did not run on Wednesday with some soreness that creeped up on me. So far this week ive run 8.5 on Sunday, 9 on Monday, Tuesday zero, and Wednesday 3.....not a walk in the park to say the least. I am also bothered by some soreness on my rump which is always odd with the combo of both the feelings i had i am going to try to power on through with this struggle and pop out 8 miles tonight and hopefully take a much needed break on Friday with Saturday doing a short run before i do my 13 miles on Sunday with Amy.

Blash from the Past Series
This Series that I am proclaiming as Blash from the Past is about my past struggles from earlier this year from the start of my first race to my latest so that you will have plenty to read up on. This first post is about The Race For the Land 8K. My first race, was something I had mixed feelings about. It was all trail and basically in the backyard of where I live. The day started out very good. Had a banana and something to drink a hour before the race. Then I started and it was nothing like I expected. In some cases I ended up running the half marathon for the race. Only to find myself finishing two minutes later than my wife. When I was done with that race. My stomach and heart hurt from the effort I put into it. I was sweating like I had just taken a shower in the sun. The feeling of finishing though crossing the line just drove me to want more and made me addicted to racing. No matter if I may never come in the top ten in the race. It was remarkable to me how i felt. I felt strong and ready for another. Never felt like that before and i would image it was probably the feeling of finishing that took me aback alittle. This race is going to be the one that will always stick in my mind no matter what im thinking or doing when it comes to running and training. It is a blueprint that I follow and strive to be better now.
Tuesday Run is not fun.
Today is a new day and a new series of soreness running through my body like I havent felt sense March when my body adapted to running. So far this week i have ran about 18 miles in two days. Today will put me just over 20 miles for the week. I hope to be around 50 by weeks end. Fingers crossed with the way im feeling. Today isnt a good day with the way I am feeling. Although I know it will be worth it in the end result when i get up around 10 miles during my half marathon. And realize I only have 3 more miles to go. This journey to me is epic above any video game that I have ever played.

Monday Workout...uhhhhhh
Today's running will include Poston Park. The place i'll be spending the rest of the week running in. Today I have plan to run for 8 miles and a half. Should be alot of fun. Reaching this level of running takes alot of time. And effort along with alittle human drive that most if not all humans in our society should have. Anyway, it is always pretty peaceful at the Poston. It should be a good day to run with the way the sky looks this morning. Im looking forward to it. The pace set for the 8 miles im running today should be 8 minutes a mile which if you even care is already a steep show. Starting out you should atleast beable to do 12 minutes a mile. Good luck to all who run today! Well I thought i was going to be doing 8 miles tonight but i decided to make it 9 miles. Freaking sore and hurting. I just always keep in mind that Pain is Weakness leaving the body.

The Aftermath of the Woods
After the run through the woods we ended up running around 8 to 8 and a half miles. Felt good and plenty sore from yesterday. A win never the less, we are a month and two weeks away from Thunder Road Marathon and we both are going to start to work extremely hard to reach the next level in our sport. This next month is going to be a hard road to travel. In the end we are looking to see the beautiful first medals from the completion of our first marathon. In the upcoming days leading to the next training day which is tomorrow. I will be going through each of the races I have been in sense starting to race back in June. Talking about how it felt and what it took to continue on with finishing the race like your suppose to. With as little injury and feeling good as possible. If you have any feedback or comments dont be afraid to post them. I'd welcome them completely. Best Runner I can Be signing off!
Today is Halloween
Today is Halloween, and the booger, aka the wife and I are going to go running in the trails by our house. Have no idea how far it is. But i will be running at her pace. Still feeling the effects of the 10K yesterday that I did very well at. I met my target goal which was 50 minutes at a pace of 8 minutes and some seconds a mile. This run today might be overboard for me. But I have to get stronger and better otherwise I will only be as good as my last run.
This All Began in March
I decided to start this blog now! This is the 7 months into training with this sport that i have grown to love so quickly. It all started with my wife and me talking about how far each of us can run on a track. She told me she could run further than me. So the challenge was on. I could do half a mile. Where she could only do a fourth, but out of that situation this journey was fueled. We started to work out every day with Sunday and Fridays off. First doing a mile for about a month to two months. Then we added another mile. Her pace sperate from mine. Although we never thought it would lead us to starting to do 5K races. Our first was a trail race 8K in just our backyard called, Race For the Land. Then Jame K Polk 5K and that lead us to having done a handfull of 5Ks and we decided by December we will be doing a half marathon called Thunder Road. We have also recently done two 10K races. Where ive had a comple of issues with feeling like i was going to throw up. But i got an idea on how to correct that problem. Which i will give a update on. Going forward now i will be doing a update on the blog every week on Sunday to let anyone who chooses to follow this blog as a example for them to try to do what is best for them in there life. To find the constant work of running to get stronger and better at the sport that anyone can do. At any speed and feel good about it when they cross the finish line. To thoses that follow i wish you the best of luck and no injury.
